Standard Germanréférence

The reference, with one thing made explicit: the r after a vowel is not a consonant at all but a vowel, ɐ. 'Uhr' is 'oo-ah'. Every final b, d and g devoices, the ch splits into two sounds by what precedes it, and stress is on the root syllable, which for a compound means the first word.

Où: Germany — the northern-shaped broadcast standard

La porte d’entrée: Turn every r that ends a syllable into 'ah', and put a catch before every word that starts with a vowel.

Les règles déclenchées

  1. r after a vowel becomes a vowel

Mélodie et rythme

Stress-timed and heavily so: the stressed syllable is loud and long, the rest crushed. Falling intonation on almost everything, including many questions. Words are separated by glottal stops before vowels — 'ein Ei' has a catch between the words.

Ce qui bouge, règle par règle

Dans l’ordre où la bouche les applique. Chaque avant/après est écoutable — cliquez sur l’API. Le motif est la règle telle que le moteur l’exécute, pour les curieux.

Consonnes

r after a vowel becomes a vowel

([iɪyʏeɛøœəɐæaɑɒɔoʊuʌɤɵɚɨɯ][ː̃]?)ʁ(?=[pbtdkɡqʔmnɲŋɴfvθðszʃʒɕʂʐçxχɣʁħʕhβʝlʎɹrɾjwɥʈɖɳɽʋɦ]|$| ) → $1ɐ

Quand: after a vowel, when no vowel follows

Comment: Do not touch anything. Open the mouth slightly at the end of the vowel, as if saying 'uh'.

Vocalised r. The consonant only survives before a vowel; elsewhere it is a low central vowel gliding off the one before it.
